Hilary Duff adopts an older rescue dog with boyfriend Matthew Koma!
Looks like Hilary Duff and boyfriend Matt Koma are expanding their family, with a dog! Hilary took to her Instagram on Thursday, March 8, 2018, to announce the exciting news, the star wrote: “Hey guys! We adopted an old dog. Thank you so much @LoveLeoRescue.”
The Younger actress posted the photo of her and boyfriend Matt Koma standing outside with their newest friend, adorably sporting a bandana. According to Us, Duff adopted the dog from a Los Angeles non-profit organization called Love Leo Rescue, which is the same rescue that matched her with her puppy Momo back in May 2017.

The 30-year-old also revealed the name of her beautiful canine in the photos hashtag: #WeLoveLucy, appearing that their new friend is named Lucy. While we don’t know Lucy’s age, she definitely isn’t a puppy. Many of those who follow Duff on Instagram was quick to comment on the dog’s age, as she appears to be an older dog.
Fans of Duff were quick to praise the star for adopting an older dog, as mature canines are often ignored and overlooked at shelters. Lucy is joining her new siblings, Momo and Peaches, Hilary’s other dogs, one of which being a French bulldog. Duff’s boyfriend, Matt Koma also had a little fun on Instagram posting a pic of him holding Lucy.
Koma captioned the pic of him holding his new friend on their sofa, saying: “I Love Lucy and she… looks fairly indifferent towards me,” referring the TV show I Love Lucy. He continued by mentioning: “I will Ricky Ricardo her heart.”
The adoption comes only a few weeks after Duff said goodbye to her little bud of 10 years, Dubois, a Bernese mountain dog, who unfortunately passed less than a month ago. The star announced the sad news via Instagram saying: “I never let myself imagine what this day would look or feel like. It was us. And we were invisible. I am having to look into your beautiful amber almond-shaped eyes and tell you goodbye today.”
Duff also included a video clip of the adorable dog, concluding her message with: “And honestly, I would take the pain of losing you 10x over to have had you forever a quarter of that time my dubie.”
Losing a pet is never easy, but we’re glad that Duff is all smiles with their new best friend, Lucy! For more information on the Love Leo Rescue, check out their website at LoveLeoRescue.Org.
